When young children take part in imaginative or pretend play activities, which support cognitive development, optimism, creativity, and a sense of imagination about possibilities for the future, they are provided with opportunities to interact cooperatively and develop interdependence and collaboration skills.

This Rubric can be used as a tool by teachers to structure the pretend play time format in classrooms or childcare settings.
